Support for Sanjay Dutt goes online- Hindustan Times

Six days after the court judgement, the city's film industry continues to express it's solidarity with Sanjay Dutt who has been sentenced to jail for six years.
A petition has been posted on the internet - www.petitiononline.com - which will be eventually sent to President Pratibha Patil.

The three-day-old site has nearly 2,000 signatories Shah Rukh Khan, Bobby Deol, John Abraham, Dia Mirza, Farhan Akhtar, Mohit Ahlawat, Dabboo Ratnani, Atul Agnihotri, Manav Gangwni and Ritesh Sidhwani.

Here are some of the messages posted on the site:

Shah Rukh Khan: Sanjay, we are here for you and support you throughout. The film industry has faced a loss for six years not having you around. We love you and are praying for the best. Hope to see you soon. Inshallah.

Bobby Deol: Please free Sanju, he is a goldenhearted man, I know him for years now.

Farhan Akhtar: Sanjay is NOT a criminal. And he does not need to be reformed. He has already served a 16-month sentence for his recklessness and has since been a decent, secular, law-abiding citizen. He has been part of many good causes and has done much charity work for the benefit of our society and people.

He should definitely be set free and the judicial system to should use the goodwill that he shares with the people of this country by getting him to engage with the youth of today and opening their minds to the perils of immature behaviour. He cannot do this by being in jail! I am sad to say that when certain people were celebrating how justice was served and nobody is above the law, they failed to cite the examples of many prominent personalities, from the sphere of politics and policing, who are way more guilty of crimes against our people. I do hope that Sanjay Dutt's case is handled with more sensitivity by the Supreme Court of India.

Irfan Khan: He is Suffered Enough

Mohit Ahlawat: I know Sanjay personally, I feel ashamed of being an Indian today, everything you do good in this country can go for a Toss, if you commit one mistake, Media Hype has created trouble too, why cant Press, TV, Radio stations not start sign the petiotion campagain and help Sanju, I request all of you to help and spread the word...

Sunny Deol: Pls free Sanjay he is a great guy and he commited and suffered enuf, Ms President please listen to us

DJ Aqeel: Free Sanju because he does not deserve this. He is a good human being and always has thought of others before himself.

Rajkumar Hirani: How do we calculate the punishment to the mind for the last 13 years. Shouldn't that be deducted from his sentence.
